Congratulations Mlle Gill!

We are pleased to announce that Miss. Mackenzie Gill, English and French Immersion Kindergarten teacher at École St. John Paul II School, has been chosen to represent our school division as the 2024 Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) Edwin Parr Award Nominee!

"Throughout her first year of teaching, Mackenzie has demonstrated a strong student-centered pedagogy to support learning. Mackenzie has managed to successfully build relationships with students, staff, parents, and other members of the school community by demonstrating empathy and a genuine caring for others. She actively collaborates with other professionals and provides meaningful opportunities for students to learn. Moreover, Mackenzie is driven to improve her practice and understands what it means to be a career-long learner."  -Mr. Robert Dumanowski, Principal

Each year, the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) honors six outstanding first year teachers for the Edwin Parr Teacher Award, one from each zone across the province. Mackenzie, as well as the other Zone 6 nominees, will be acknowledged at a banquet later this spring. ASBA zone winners are then honoured at the Annual Fall Conference in Edmonton.

Mackenzie will be recognized at the Public Board Meeting on April 9th held at Central Office (the presentation will be at 3:30 p.m.).

Good luck Mackenzie and congratulations on your nomination!
